WELCOME ADDRESS

As Honorary President of the scientific activities of the 2011 IMID conference, it is a pleasure for me to welcome the visitors to this website featuring the history of all IMID events held over time, starting from 2004, when the first conference took place.

Since then, a number of highly successful scientific events have been held in a sort of "Rossini crescendo", thanks to the contributions of competent and qualified speakers, to the excellent planning of the programme, and, above all, thanks to the principle underlying Systemic Medicine, grounded on complete and comprehensive "interdisciplinarity" in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with IMIDs, (Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Disorders), generally known as immune diseases.

Since 2008, the scientific events have been enriched by the ceremony of the IMID Prize, devised and then actually implemented with the intent to award scientists who distinguish themselves within their field of competence.

The seventh meeting, IMID Scientific 2011 – Interannual Conference, on the theme, “From IgEs to Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. Evolutive Courses of Immune-Mediated and Environment-Related Inflammatory Diseases”, will take place from 8th to 12th March, 2011, and will represent not only an important opportunity for all participants to keep up to date on a major issue such as immunological diseases, but also a moment of fruitful confrontation for those who have to cope with the problems of managing immunological patients on a daily basis. The event is addressed to Physicians in different specialties, as well as to Geneticists, Biologists, Biotechnologists, Nutritionists, and Nurses.

Immunology is currently enjoying a season of critical review of old models and, at the same time, of a relentless advance of new perspectives in pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of such diseases. In this context, the event “IMID 2011” will provide a stage on which a number of distinguished speakers will follow one another to give their relevant contributions on old and emerging problems in immune diseases.

It should be emphasized that the credit for organizing the various events must be given to Mauro Minelli and all his valued collaborators, first of all Esther Tattoli, an indefatigable "organizer."

I, therefore, warmly invite participation in the 2011 meeting, in the firm belief that it will provide a fruitful and useful opportunity for all participants to keep up to date.
